SWEET GLOOM

Sweet Gloom is a punk band from Los Angeles with stars in their eyes and love in their hearts. They don’t care much about anything besides rock and roll, the death of fascism, and falling in and out of love as fast as possible. Their songs bring together old-school crooner melodies, big hooks, and fast, lovesick punk – like Elvis fronting the Ramones in the middle of a doomed Hollywood romance.

Following their 2023 debut LP Reverie, Sweet Gloom returns with a sharper edge on their sophomore album, No Love Lost: 10 tracks of energetic, big-hearted romantic wreckage, delivered with the same signature sha-la-la sweetness that makes even their most nihilistic moments feel romantic. No Love Lost is out August 21 via Sneak Dog Records.

ABOUT "BOX DYE"

"Box Dye" is a lovesick punk song about dreaming of someone you know you shouldn't want – only to wake up still unable to shake the feeling. Built around a crush with "big blue eyes / That always seem a little green sometimes," the track captures the blurry line between fantasy and bad idea.

Rawer and more blown-out than the band’s 2023 debut LP Reverie, "Box Dye" shows off the sharper edge of Sweet Gloom in No Love Lost. Frontman Jaake Margo's old-school crooner vocals ride fuzzed-out guitars and sweet "ooh yeah yeah" harmonies, backed by a fuller lineup: Avery Okamura (lead guitar/vocals), Chris Clark (bass/vocals), and Morris Carrillo (drums).
